My Babies are GROWING!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cute Oscars. They'll grow an average of 1" each month. So they'll be huge in no time.

How big is that tank? It looks like it may be too small for them once they are fully grown.
Especially if you have a Pleco too. I would say for 2 O's and a Pleco you want at LEAST a 75 gallon.

A note on the feeders. Even if your LFS has healthy feeders (which is a rarety, let me add) goldfish have the nutritional value of cardboard.
They arent really good for anything except watching carnage. If you want your Oscars to grow up healthy without getting problems like HITH, internal parasites, Ich, etc.. I would not give feeders and supplement the diet with much more than flakes.

Pellets, crickets, worms, krill, beefheart, shelled peas. They need a variety of food.

Good luck with your O's.

if you want to feed live fish, try guppies.

I know they're small and usually have fungus all over, but they're much more nutrious.

goldfish also have a certain enzyme (or whatever) which prevent the consumer (your oscars) from processing vitamin B-2 (or something like that).

oscars are pigs.

:D
