I have a 75 gallon tank with 6 moba's in it. They are just about 1" a piece and i want to add something to the tank to clean it up a bit. I was thinking about a gold nugget pleco, or maybe a few synodontis cats. I also like clown loaches a lot.

What would be my best bet? I want to get something attractive and also functional. I need them to clean up the tank but also not disturb the babies.

Never had a loach but have heard they're great for what you're looking for. I have a Syno cat. he is soo cool. Not a jerk but won't tank any crap! He does work the substrait for food but I don't think like a loach would. I also have a redtail shark but hes a bit of a d*&k.... But does clean house all of the time.

I have 3 syno's in my tanks and they do a pretty good job of keeping my sand clean. I'm sure a loach would be better but it all depends on what you want to do with your tank. If you want more of a natural look, then go with a syno. Otherwise, I'm sure a loach would be fine.

I heard that the loaches do a great cleanup job , you should keep a fairly large group of them so they can school. Be sure to isolate them when you bring them home , i heard they are prone to ich and need to be carefully treated for it cause full doses of common ich cure will kill a loach...I believe they need treated at lower doses for a longer time than is typical but you would want to verify that. might want to isolate so you can preventative treat for ich before introducing into your tank.

A gold nugget pleco won't do a good job cleaning. I keep clown loaches and synodontis multis with my mobas. They are very good at cleaning up leftovers. You can see the loaches in my moba thread.

Same thing with Catfish. But my local ps has meds that are organic and safe for all types! It isn't that much more cost wise either.

i believe i will get the clown loaches then :)

I am going to try to get them as small as possible, because of the baby moba's being so small. Is there a max size that i should keep in mind? I am pretty sure clown loaches are friendly, but i just want to make sure that my new cleanup crew doesn't decide to eat a moba!

Also, can you give me the brand name for those organic ich meds? I would like to treat for ich if that is a common problem, but i do not have a seperate tank. Would it be ok to use the ogranic meds with the mobas in the same tank?

Thanks for the advice so far.

Loaches are pretty friendly types. I believe they usually pick on there own kind. And even then its just play pick not an all out war. Size wise i would stick to same size or close to as the Mobas.

As for the Ick treatment, I can't remember the name off my head but I just had it out so I do know where its at! LOL I'll have to post that tomarrow... I wouldn't treat them though unless they need it. Small white pepper dots and lots of ichy acting. Starts out with few dots then will grow way worse. Anyway, just keep an eye on them. Sure they'll be fine. Just acclimate accordingly!

One more thing. You must post pix of them once you get them!:D

The cl and frontosas are great together. My cl actually try to shcool with my frontosas.....:grinno:
If you are buying the cl from a LFS then I would medicate them first. If you have a 5 gal bucket then you can use that as the quarantine tank. You don't want to run the risk of the mobas getting ick.
