cover the intake with a sponge.
 
ok i bought and figured out what a sponge filter is. they all seem to be free swimming now so i am thinking about trying to feed them tonite. i am in the process of grinding up the flake food right now. how much of the food should i feed them and how small does it need to be ground up
 
I crush flake with my fingers for fry.
 
If they just became free swimming they will still to continue to feed off their yolk sac for another 2-3 days.
 
ok cool, now if they are no longer dependent on the yke will i be able to tell as soon as i put the food in the water...because now they dont really even go for it they mmight nip at some as it goes by but besides that they dont really even acknowledge it
 
no need for a filter atall.

do 5-10% water changes daily and leave the airpump on, they wil be fine.

although i would have kept them with the parents
 
the fish are doing fine and i did my first water change yesterday and it all went well...i cant wait for them to get bigger, but they dont seem to be eating a whole lot of the flake food
 
i just grinded up an egg white in the blender and poured it in the tank, do you guys think that is fine
