I originally spent aroud $800 for the entire system installed and another $250/yr for filter replacements. There's a lot more competition in the water systems industry so, at the very least, filter elements have dropped by 80% in cost. Look in the yellow pages under 'Water-Home', 'Water-Filtration', etc. Or, just look up Culligan in the white pages or on the 'net.
 
they make and sell two diferent hoses that you can buy . One is a home and garden hose and its not fda aproved for a reason. It is coated with anti fungal and mildew stuff but its made in the rubber thats why when you drink out of a hose you get the hose taste in your mouth


Now the other type of hose is fda aproved for dfood preperation and stuff like that. Thats the type o hose i use for my watter changes. My pops use to own a food buissness this is how i no these things. Your hose could have gotten some cracks on the inside of it or soemthing and leached out some of the stuff in the hose. This is just something for everyone to think about when useing garden hoses

i drink from the hose then im workin outside, dosent taste funny to me.

That was what made me wonder if it was something other than the water change. Oddball raises a point about some fish being more sensitive than others. I see a cat and a clown, what else is in there?
 
yup i think oddball is right, tinfoils are more sensitive to sudden changes in temperature, ph and also to chlorine.. i've lost my fare share of big tinfoils when doing water changes bigger that 30% especially before when i was a newbie.. they like aged water when water changing.. sorry about your loss..

no miles, i did it different, i attached an old garden hose my siphon with steel clamp and ran the hose into the street then i filled the tank with the yard hose and add a small amount of dechlor as it fills up reducing chlorine stress.

you know some hose may leach off chemicals that prevents moldy growth.
But its an old garden hose so im not too sure. It usually happens with new garden hoses. Sorry to hear.

Sorry about the loss. I now use an RV/marine hose for "human
use" never had a problem. I to have lost tb's that are large after
a water change. Just sometimes they freak after them.
