The 20g is OK for the F8 but the GSP will have to be upgraded to a larger 30g with a much higher SG then the F8 requires.

thinking about investing in those magnet algae scrubbers for the face of the glass at least. have you or anybody else heard any thing about them? good, bad?

Oh dude, they're awesome! Makes cleaning the glass so much easier- on the front and sides at least.

fig 8 is much bigger and seems to be not stressed at all with the gsp and have read many pages on the fact that they enjoy each other's company and salinity lol.

All I can do is tell you what my 30+ years experience in this hobby (especially with puffers) has taught me. Remember, we are talking about fish that can live into their late teens. F8s have been proven to live close to 20 years as a singleton in low-end BW.
