My Bass Pond, well sorta

Well try a pond deicer to keep it from frezing solid, you could also place an insulated top on it like a hot tub and get an aquarium heater for the gallonage and set it at the lowest you want the pond to get.
antoher way to keep it from frezzing solid is to get some current in the pond.
 
Its going to be dug 2ft in the ground, well im not too sure a Large Largemouth bass would like 2ft deep water? but i will have heaters and it only gets down to 20 degrees and thats freezing, it normally stays in the 40s. So im trying to get a pond thats 4ft deep and than id get it in 6ft diameter. Also will be in the shade for summer time, with duckweed and rocks, plants,ect... So would a Largemouth Bass live in a pond thats 2ft to 4ft deep in central ga?
 
iam pretty sure a bass would live were your at in the pond you got, they're not open water fish, usually sticking to the shallows.

if you could go 3 feet do so the bass will fell safer.
 
ive been looking around for 3 hours and this one at 25" is the deepest. I will definately add a heater and try to somehow make it 3ft deep? i could weld another 1ft ontop if i really wanted to. whats a good pond heater and filter for a 700 gallon pond?
 
Yah need to spray a waterproof coating or use a liner on the galvanised ponds. the galvanization leaches toxins to the fish.

Just get a pond pump that will do 1400 or more gph at two foot head and connect it to this http://www.skippysstuff.com/biofiltr.htm or buy a premade one from them.

Also gavalinized metal is not to good at being welded.

With heaters i would just stick with a pond deicer and place this pond in the ground and just insulate the top making sure you have an air pump provided neccesary air to the water while it is covered. after all bass are temperate water. to have them grow all year long keep the temp above 70 and stick this pond in a green house or any structure that can keep the heat in from the sun.
 
thansk and yes i just found out that the zinc leaches so im gettign the 300 gallon rubbermaid trough or a liner for the galvanized one? as for the pump and heaters i only looked at heaters to see what i had to do in order to keep in warm and it looks possible considering these are natives that could easily survive in this region so im not that worried as long as theres a heater and its buried in the ground. im also going to either buy a 50g or 100g rubbermaid tub to raise either convict cichlids OR fathead minnows but im really aiming towards fatheads due to their durrability and reproduction rates
 
thanks for the help i may just get a liner OR buy a rubbermaid 300g stock tank and ive heard that theres 30" deep plastic tubs at tractor supply thats not on their website so ill have to check that out. whats a good tank for raising fathead minnows i was guessing a rubbermaid 100g tank maybe no heater?
 
If your digging for the galvanized tank and putting a liner in it, ditch the tank and just make a depth you want w/liner.
 
true but theres multiple trees where im putting this so i dont want any holes in the liner.
