My bass upset me sometimes...

If i were you i would start feeding them once a day. Keep feeding the tank until everyone gets their fill. Even if that means the ray eats 30 pellets. I feed my tank a good 40-60 massivore pellets easily each feeding. And then i feed a filet of tilapia. then I feed super worms to my leichardti. You gotta take the time to make sure they all get food :)

I feed in steps

1- A big handful of massivore pellets...followed by a second handfull. But only half the second handful goes in at this time.

2-I go into the kitchen and cut the fish filet into chunks...small to medium sized pieces. Throw em into a cup and then i stuff them w/ a massivore pellet. Not all the pieces tho....gotta trick em sometimes. My azuls are picky :(

3-I feed the superworms. Mainly for my leichardti. He will eat 10-15 each feeding. But i give a few to my black and silver aro as well. My bichirs eat em if they hit the bottom

Feeding my tank usually takes a good 10min or so. But thats okay. I enjoy getting splashed by my cichla :)

Nice, thanks for listing all that.. I will definitely take it on board and try to mix up the way I have been feeding them. I basically have been letting them decide when they want the food, and drop em a pellet when they decide to react to my hand and come to the top. So I know they will hit it instantly.

Appreciate all the comments about the setup too. I just like it pretty simple.. as long as the fish are happy.

It's looking like a hot summer in Perth.. tank has been around 30-31c on the hot days. Currently have an air stone + air disc in the tank, along with the FX5 and both Eheims breaking the surface... should be right? The bass seem to love it anything, just them and the ray to worry about.

Your setup and filtration sounds excellent for your stock. Just gotta keep up on the wc's and you feed the fish on YOUR schedule. By alternating days feeding and taking the time to feed each fish will make for a more consitent eating routine and happier fish. Cichla are like dogs...they will always beg for food.

Excellent, cheers.

WC routine is 2x 40% changes weekly. Also everything second week I add the appropriate dose of salt. I didn;t know if adding salt every WC was advisable... so I just decided on the every second thing.
