So I have some questions for all you bearded dragon fanatics out there.

My beardie(Spike) is like... 8 or 9 years old.

He didn't have a U.V. light when he was a baby and he ate mostly bugs. Despite all this, I'd say hes a really healthy dragon.

Here's some pics...

He likes to kill things... IDK if thats normal...

Now here's the question. Spike likes to eat the same things I do. Is that normal? Am I slowly killing him by letting him eat ice cream and cookies and easy mac? His favorite food in the world is chocolate ice cream and rainbowchunk frosting....

Yummeh....

Uh-oh.

You are a glutton for punishment aren't you?

Thats all I have to say.

the best thing to feed bd is collard greens. aka romaine lettuce, and other fruits. he will not live long eating that. i guess u just got him since u are feedin him ****? u can feed him live food but i would try bugs or worms. since bearded dragons only live 8 yrs on good food i would desregaud the stuff u are feedin him. since u have the internet obviously i would look up good foods for him. DUMBASS

LOL Thank you for your input, bud.

Maybe I should have been a little more specific. I've actually had him for 8-9 years.

And you failed to answer my question...

EDIT: Don't call my baby a bastard, you ****. The pic with the aspin is actually a cali kings cage. He was finishing my snakes left overs xD

DUMBASS??

Romaine lettuce, aka collard greens? Have you ever been to the grocery store? First of all they are two totally different veggies. And collard greens are not even lettuce! BTW only one of those are good for BDs. Bugs or worms? any specific ones or just whatever? I feel the need to go on, but im going to restrain myself. Spellcheck you words before you call someone else a dumbass.

Haha, I'm loving the drama already. I wouldn't worry that he doesn't get his veggies, he just gets *special treats* too.

Haha, buck_wildest I am laughin so hard.

lol yeah. Thanks buddy, that made my night.

And yeah, Tiff is right. He eats like a champ. But I can't deny that cute little face!!!! He just loves his snack food >_< I was hoping maybe someone else out there had the same dilemma.

Huuummm...116, first of that is one pretty nasty Pichu :naughty::D Ok, your acomplishement in raising your dragon is pretty much luck and your lucky also that is still alive. You are using some healty fare (bugs and what a heck, the mouse) but also some terrible food choices. You should spot rigth away feeding him ice cream and specialy chocolate ice cream, as well as all junk food or no herp food items. So why stop the ice cream? 4 reasons for that:grinno: 1-is got lactose which I garantee you that your lizard is completly unable to digest 2-chocolate ice cream contains teobromine which can be toxic and letal to anything non primate 3-ice cream is to cold wich can lead to serious digestive probs 4-to much sugar, fat, lack of fiber, etc. Ice cream is simply not met to be feed to this animals:screwy: As well as all the junk food you have been giving to him. If you love your animal (and I beleave you do:)) stop giving him things that are able to kill him. You may argue"but he´s already 8 years old and Ive been giving him this food all it´s life", great he has maked to that old age, now lets take mesures to unsure he will be with you for much longer:D As for your early days with your beardy in wich he was raise only on bugs and without uv ligth...well...in a pet shop near my house a bearded dragon was raised without ligth, only with a hot rock for heat and was fed...turtle and fish food:eek: Amazing how he survived, but that doesant mean bearded dragons should be raised that way, most would simply die. Its the same saying "my uncle smoked 4 box of malboro red a day and lasted untill its 90´s" and using that as a argument that smoking is healty:screwy::grinno:
For now your bearded dragon desperaly needs its high calcium veggis like turnip greens, collard greens and mustard greens, as well as warm baths to help him get rid of the toxins its body has much likely acumulated. Letuce and fruit dont belong in its menu. Insects should used every other day:)
