That white tail on my bgk is just dangling off the end of him. I don't know how it happened, I just noticed this morning. Is there anything I can do for him or is he done for? Its broke and dangling. When he swims its upside down. Can it live if it broke off?

it should grow back.
does he have any tank mates?
It only has just a little bit of the white for a tail maybe 1/8-1/4 inch of one on a 7 inch bgk. Tankmates are clownloaches some polys a fire eel and a 3''AT dats. I figure the bgk either got trampled by the loach school, which has happened before... Or it was the dat that little punk.:irked: I never see anyone bother the bgk it just minds its own buisness in a fake hollowed out log, but who knows what that little dat is up to when I'm not around. They have all been completely fine for the last 3 months, just today was the knifes tail hanging. It was just attached by the thin feather so I carefuly pulled it off of him and now looks more relaxed.

It will grow back??? I guess I didn't know that.

Keep an eye on it. You may have to isolate and treat to prevent infections or the tankmates from attacking a weakened fish.

I have the feeling its the dats.
I think its the dat 2. I moved the bgk to a little 10 gallon community I have with 3 danios, a cory and a cardnal t for recovery. The tail looks ok so far. I treated with melafix. I don't like using those bottled meds I believe more in cleanwater, but I guess it won't hurt to try it out.

The datnoid probably think the white tip of the bgk is a small fish and tried to suck it up.

Wow that is really good idea! That never crossed my mind. I thought they would be to small to pick on it. I do feed them little strips of some of the fish from time to time. That would explain why they only attacked the white part and not the rest of the bgk.
