has really bad fin rot. but its only on one of the side fins. and its completely gone. should i quarantine him?? and how would i heal it??

Could it have bitten off? What tankmates is it in with?
If it is fin rot get medicine and use half dose. Increase the temmperature and add salt. Also try adding melafix or such.

yea i added melafix but it doesnt seem to be helping. but ill try raising the temp and adding salt. and he is in the 55g in my sig but they never mess with him.

R u sure it wasn't the pacu or the gars. The pacu's in my LFS have shredded fins from each other and they are only 2-3 inches long. Gars have some nice teeth too you know
well i think it had fin rot when i bought it. and yes i meant the 75g. my pacu only eat feeders when they see the oscar chasing them.any other time they eat flakes. and the gars are always calm and stay to theirselves.
What fish was it with in the LFS? Did it already have a missing fin? Could one of its tankmates from the LFS tank have bitten it off?
it was in with another bgk and it only had alittle bit of a fin. i added melafix, salt, and raised the temp. maybe that will help.
