My bichir collection ... LOAD WARNING

Hi Inf,

about the female sen's meal ...

Everytime i'm feeding another inhabitant of the tank is the one who eats a bigger part of the dinner. This time it had been Mrs. Sen.
Normally she is a really fat fish - but after several breedings she got less fat. The fact that she had been this fat thing let me think about a long time internal development of the eggs ...
I would be interested in a statement about this by Anne ...

Greetings

Uwe

Hi,

here's my Mrs.Sen with Mr.Cichlidkiller ...

Hello,

and now ... no pics anymore!

Unfortunately this thread was moved to the "Photo Lounge" ... obviously only related to Polypterids (7 species) during different states of growth, colour changes, feeding ...

Someone's opinion had been that this is an all-over-fish-thread. Obviously there are members who visited the sub-forum "Polypterids" and liked to find this thread there (2.457). No-one explained the reasons to move this thread to me - it had been just made.
Other threads only related to Polypterids had also been moved ...

It had been not Anne's decision ...

What has happened here?

nice pic of the duo!

i'm not sure. i guess they decided that since the pics aren't question-related, they should be in the photo lounge, even though all the pics belong to one group of fish and are probably most interesting to people who frequent the particular subforum. i'm not saying it doesn't belong in the photo lounge, since it obviously does. But i think in this case (when all pics are of one group of fish that has its own subforum), the poster should have the option. oh well...

We have to admit a thread like this can really bring more traffic to a specific forum. Actually, I always do the same thing, thouogh either way is ok. Well, in fact traffic is not an issue here in bichir forum, but, it's already becomes my habit. Just my thought.

Hello,

on 03.12.2008 i started a thread called "My bichir collection" where i presented nearly half of all knowned bichir species ... not only showing pics but also talking about them (behaviour etc.). There had been over 2.000 clicks on this thread.
The story behind the story: I got several private e-mails belonging to the pics - about further use, copyrights etc. ... everyone told me HOW he found these pics and informations everybody told me about the difficulty to get "good" (not blurry, not showing tank technique or dirty glass etc.) pics from polypterids.
OK, ALL of them found these pics via the sub-forum "Polypterids", no-one via the sub-forum "Photo Lounge".
Just one thing to say: I do not have any commercial interests in posting these pics!

There is no balance about the posted pics according to the photographed species - the most photographed species are cichlids and arowanas. Bichirs, freshwater fish - to name a few - are resting a shadowy existence related in being pic-posted.

I had to see that my thread (i know most people seeing it liked it) was moved to the "Photo Lounge". If this thread would have been a more general relation ... but the thread is only related to polypterids. An odd thing: Other threads which are centered on bichir pics remained in the sub-forum they are related - to be not misunderstood: I HOPE these thrads will remain! Good bichir pics are rare!
Pics are a good information tool - especially for those ones not speaking English very well. To describe a bichir species to someone unpracticed is not really effective. In some countries you will never see some of these species "live", otherwise: If you google "Polypterus teugelsi" in the pic modus you will see everything and nothing ...
Maybe i'm erring: Is it one of the aims of a forum to clear up knowledge about some fish species? Is it a good idea to simplify searching?
I don't know the background of this moving until yet ...

Greetings

Uwe
