so i've seen pictures of bichir skeletons and i think they look pretty cool. now i unfortunatly have a dead one. i was wondering if anyone knows the best way to turn a fish into a skeleton. should i leave it outside and let nature take its course? would there be anything left? any tips would be great thanks.

if you leave it outside somethings just gonna eat the whole thing bones and all

gonna need to find a chemical solution that will deteriorate the cells and leave the skeleton maybe some sort of compound not sure

I have no idea if this would work, but what about maggots? would they clean then up for you?

+1 on maggots

PS: Your thread title is kind of pissing off bichir keepers here.

well i agree it was worded rather insensitivly but i was going for that so people would read it and help me figure out a way to preserve him longer. i cant have him living any longer however i can still keep him

They way they do hogs is to boil it in a water/bleach solution. But remeber a hogs head is big I dont know how it will work with the small soft bones or a fish. There is a company called skulls unlimited out of Oklahoma they use beatles and it work rather fast. Well anyway i would like to see some pics when you are done.

PS There are alot of cry babys out there!!!

sniff sniff cry cry. people should stop crying over what other people chose to do with there fish. If its dead. Its dead.

Ide try boiling it in a mild bleach solution and watter. ide do it outside incase it stinks and fumes. Sit the pot on your grill fire that baby up.
