My Bichir passed

Sorry for the loss.
There should be something posted as a Sticky telling Bichir keepers not to use gravel in their tanks. Although, people should have the idea by now after all of the deaths involving gravel.

No no sympathy from me, its a well known fact that bichirs eat gravel yet people still keep them on it. I'm sick of seeing threads about a bichirs dieing from either jumping out or swallowing gravel. Do people not read or something!?!?!?!?

Ouch, that sucks.

I had a bichir for 2 years in a gravel tank and it never had any gravel problems. It did, however, bail out during the middle of the night and die.

that makes me scare as i also have gravel in my tanks. Many times i thought my albino swallowed a rock since its stomach was bulging out from eating too much

sorry to hear that, I have mine with gravel and have had no problems, I watch them when I feed them they all seem smart enough to tell what is food and what is not and when the do get a stone in their mouth it doesn’t take long before they can tell its not food and spit it out, but you never no I hope it doesn’t happen to me.

same here.....my various bichirs sometimes get gravel in their mouth during feeding time but they spit it out.
