My big Girl

I understand what you mean. Everytime I see one for sale I have to debate with myself internally for about 30 minutes and convince myself not to get one.
Wait, so he's over 30 years old?
Oh God no-I meant when I started keeping fish over 30 years ago I had one at the time
Never kept one since so just couldn't say no this time round for old times sake. I love them and they're far more manageable than Tiger Shovels

At the same time I also had 2 Poly p. polli and they both lived for around 14 years ( I kept them for many years and then a freind took them when I left for Uni). I'd love to keep them again but we get much choice here in BC

Nice looking fish. What kind of eel is that?

Where in BC are you?
Fire Eel-got it a week ago. Only just starting to get my 180G stocked-moved here from UK 2 years ago. I'm really happy as it took to eating Tilapia immediately-never done well with these in the past and they'd only eat bloodworm or earthworms for me

I'm in Chilliwack-couple of good stores with oddball fish but find on the whole the Polypterus choice is usually Senegals or Endlis. Have seen some tiny Laps for sale (around 3") but were $80 so have to think long and hard on this. I'm trying to get my stock in now so they can all grow out together and the way the Big Girl is growing anything too small will be an expensive snack

Nice. It’s always a sigh of relief when they eat “the right things”. Man it’s a hard decision when they are 3”. You never know how it will go. So small and fragile for that price. I want a lap so bad but not sure if I’d be willing to do that. It sucks being limited to certain stores. lol I live in a fairly big city and there are still only a few lfs that would even stock polys.

My wife and I are talking about going to BC this week some time. Chiliwak is actually a possible stop point for us because she has family there. Might have to check those shops out if we make it there

Bob's Aquatics is the local store. Mostly community fish but a few oddballs. He's got some big Senegals for sale (8-10"), tiny Endlicheri and some small albino Senegals.

He's still got some Lima shovelnose from the batch I got mine from (makes me realise how much mine's grown)

Lots of plants for sale and a small dry goods section

Worth a visit as he often gets new stock in

The other store where I saw the tiny Laps was Fish Addicts in Langley. Quite a few oddballs but was disappointed to see diseased/dying/dead fish in a few tanks. Some of his Polys didn't look good
