I didn't really think of starving the big IT. I ran out of prawns, didn't buy any more and just fed hikari. After 2-3 weeks, he just started hammering pellets.
He has such bulk , I reckon he could go 10 weeks with no food!!!! Easy.
It helps if you have a few kg of pellets, and if other fish eat pellets.
How long u starved your IT?
Are you sure you didn't throw a few prawns in just incase..... Sometimes I do this and it's back to square 1 all over again. Best way is to run out of prawns. The frt came as x- change... A favour from a friend. But I had to say bye to my 24/7 stable: nine inch NTT and 7 inch NGT...

Still trying to get them to take pellets.Ade;4347144; said:Sometimes rob, some tigers are hard to convert as u have experienced. I gave up trying to convert an old thinbar. Another IT is on week 3 . He gulped an algae wafer than spat it out.
If u have a group with most eating pellets you'll tend to forget about the fussy ones, or atleast stop focusing on that one fish as u convert all the others.
As a rule, once sunken belly and looking waiter thin, I feed prawns again for few days then convert again.
Was talking to T1, even one of his tigers after 8 weeks or more of starving...... Would not eat pellets, so he had he to feed prawn as it was looking well thin!!. Just use judgement (as u did with your ngt) and feed frozen till he's ready to convert again.
