My Black Aro Problem

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats good to hear

Clean water is the best cure. When I treat with melafix I do daily 50% WCs. Your aro is small still and depending on the tank size daily 50% WCs probably not needed.

Do you test you water parameters at all?

if its the only one in the tank id suspect your water conditions

try doin 15-25% WC 2-3 times a week and continue using the meds and salt
should clear up within a few weeks

Thanks for the opinions, guys.

Now i use melafix daily and do 25% water changing every 2days, and i found there some fin growing back.

Now, see the red circle...got some grown back.

So should i continue with the treatment (melafix + salt, water change every 2days) until he is fully recover?

And do the fins will fully grown back?

My tank is 4ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft...i just fill the water half tank.
The temp is 30-31c, ph is around 7.

Keeping the pH stable is important and it being neutral is good. For baby aros, especially those that are healing, keeping your nitrates under 10ppm is very beneficial. I would test your nitrates and do enough water changes to keep the nitrates under 10ppm.

Ok, thanks for your suggestion.
Do i need to remove the peat in the filter while the treatment? Or just left it would be ok?

I would leave the peat.

Good to hear that it's getting better. The only thing I would remove is Carbon (if you use any) and maybe increase the percentage in the water changes to 50% every 3-5 days.

Good news, the fins seem growing back but slow.

Here's the update photos:

So do i stil need to continue to use the melafix + pimafix treatment until the fins fully grow back? Or just keep the good water condition will be fine?
