So I have my black aro eating carnisticks. Seeing him eat pellets is boring enough but the way he eats it makes it even more boring. He doesn't wait and SNATCH like my past aros did. He sorta is aggressive for his first few pellets then kinda slowly, slows down eating. He really gently takes a pellet. He even just watches it for a few seconds and moves it around with his barbels. (guess his mom never told him not to play with his food lol) With that said...

Another thing I'm not used to is, he doesn't eat a lot. IME, most fish will eat a lot and multiple times a day if given the opportunity. He'll eat Appx 3-4 pellets a day and seems pretty content till the next day. I try feeding him more than once a day, but he shows little to intrest.

I'm thinking its no appetite. I read giving them garlic will boost his appetite, should I try this method?

Anyone have any knowledge of this and how to change it?

Tested the water a few days ago and it was good, I still did my routine WC to make the water even better. Temp at 84*. Oh and he's been eating like that since i got him, Appx 3-4 weeks ago. I'm not too worried because he is eating. But I just want him to have more of an aggressive appetite.

I always thought when a fish is "eating" it is a good sign. Didn't know it has to be exciting. My new baby jar will eat until his stomach is like a buddah, then I stop because it looks like it will pop. But he will wrestle the dead piece of squid like it was going to escape out of his mouth. But before I would feed him live stuff that why he is aggressive. Try feeding you aro live for a week. There is no need to be aggressive with pellets.

You know what bro, my aro is the same way. Last wed I was so happy cause all of the stick I gave her that afternoon she finish it. But later that night when I try to feed her again she just grab it then spit out like she has no interest on eating it. Then the following morning when I gave her 2 stick she did the same thing. That's why I put her back on her old diet dried shrimp and BW. I am trying to feed her 3 times a day with the sticks but some reason she will only eat the stick when she like it. I don't want her to starve that's why I went back to the old diet. She got the same behavior as your black.

Yap that's how she is on me. I know this is wrong but I'll just feed her 2 times a day form now on. See what happen...

i feed my silvers hikari sticks they aren't as agressive with the sticks but when i give them a treat such as live crickets there is a marked increase in agression, to the point where they actually start biting each other. i think live food wakes up their hunting and competitive instinct. just be careful with live food though, they don't pack as much nutrition as pellets
