When i got my arowana they were kindof rough with him at the lfs and knocked some scales off....they grew back but were darker, and eventually the color evened out.
Keep your tank top notch and he should be fine.

Is everything ok other than the spots?

if its the scales, might be its still growing, wait and see, if your aro is eating well and have a good appetite i won't worry to much, just observe if anything happens
