:DCaught this little guy the last time I went fishing at a nearby lake. They were always one of my favorite fishes to catch, and i like the almost purple sheen that some adults have, and the yellow and black stripe eye. Anyway, I caught him, and his buddy, brought them home where I had a 29 gallon bare bottom tank setup in my basement (I had been thinking about seting up a coldwater/native tank. One of the crappies died, because he wasnt looking good from the start. The other was a survivor, and is now aggressivly feeding on crickets that I drop on the surface of the water. Note: He is only in a bare bottom tank because I wasnt sure if he would have made it before, and I didnt want to setup a tank, only to have it him die. He will be getting a new tank within a month. And in a week I will get him some gravel for the bottom, and some plants for the corners. (Thinking about going with live plants. :D
And, since this thread would be worthless without pics, here they are! The full tank shot really show his real colors, which are mainly silver/with black spots, and that cool yellow eye.

looks like he'd do fine in that tank for some time

Yea, I figured that, and it helps that hes as inactive as he is... Im just wondering if this is normal? I mean, he doesnt move much, but is very allert, and knows exactly when I drop a cricket ontop of the water.

Yea, I know that birds need it, but i read somewhere that panfish eat sand as well, in order to help the digestion of other foods. IDK, anyway.....
