My Black Rhom (HD Quality)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think this whole thing started from people trying to help you out, saying a rhom will need a bigger tank for him, so i think everyone should chill

great fish and nice tank. I own two 55 gallons and am proud of them both. They must be the most popular size for beginners and for ease of operation. Easily recognizable to say the least. Be proud of what ya got man - not what ya want.

so your rhom grow from 10" to 12" in just 6 months? if that is true then that's very impressive growth consider they barely grow 1" a year at that size.
Did you measure both before and after length with a ruler/tap measure or you were just eyeballing it? what have you been feeding it and your water change schedule?

It was measured at petstation where I bought him and I have been measuring him with a tape measure. I feed him fresh catfish, salmon, smelt, whiting, and bass from the fish market. I feed him daily, if he doesn't eat then I remove the food. I change 35% of the water every 7 days. I have 4 marineland bio wheel emporer 400 filters and a very strong powerhead. I read that a good powerhead will keep him active and moving and that makes him want to eat. With the frequent water changes it keeps my nitrate between 10 and 20. IMO this all helped with his growth. I have early earlier pic of him on youtube if you would like to take a look.

that's really impressive to hear that it did indeed grow 2 inches in just six months.
if you don't mind post the link yea, I'd like to see the vid/pic you have on youtube.
what's GPH for your powerhead? the one I'm currently using is 1200GPH
