I bet he means a bala shark. 12" black tip shark (marine version) would be just born - and small at that. No way it would still be alive if it was down for more than a minute or two.

I was under the impression that he was talking about the freshwater blacktip that is basically a catfish. The ones that can also be slowly introduced to salt. I saw a marine black tip the other week that was almost 2 feet, so...
