Assuming it is wildcaught

The fact that this one was caught implies that there are probably many others (obviously a tiny % of the total population though) in the wild.

Cool fish, they are pretty ugly tho imo, lol. Never really got into that style fish.

How big of a tank is that with how many fish? some of those pics are crazy!

And also, saying that it is the only one in the world is pretty crazy, at least change it to the only one in the fish keeping hobby! I am sure they are rare but last time I checked it is a pretty big world we live in.

No it's not a wild caught. Ordered 25 of WAL and only one with the color like this but pretty much all the patterns are the same. I sold the rest of them. I actually didn't expect it to turn out like this as when I ordered 25 of the my aim was the marbled blotchy patterns and not the color. Then I noticed that one is very very different from the rest, as the rest are just brownish grey to dull grey. It could be from mass production that the grey pigment mutated to blue. Just like in Flowerhorn where they have grey color and in many years of producing them and selected breed, you'll see some bluish flowerhorn and even the thaisilf flower went even farther.

Yes they are widespread but I'm talking about the blue coloration not the species. Tank is 8 feet long.

That's very cool! Do you think it will stay like that?

The color is even getting bluer and bluer as it grows. It was a lil grey when it was still small and when it got up to 11" was when the blue starts to show up but very pale.
