My Brachyplatystoma filamentosum (Disscussion)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter yes, saw the fb post, it is indeed a Suriname. But Suriname variants also found on main Amazon (Santarem-juvenile), Rio Marie & Rio Trombetas. Different location holds different variation

So I did a sketch on my Surinames. 1 came from Peru shipment (no wonder the seller stand by his words, it is indeed from Peru). 1 more from THE Suriname because the shipment came along with Platydoras sp "small scutes" (only from Suriname imports). Drawn from 15" specimen (minus the spots & coloring)

I only had hands-on experienced on 1 specimen each, others I collected info from other hobbyists' specimens. So I still have no idea if these are differences between genders or truly a river basin variation.

*NOTE, everything are accurate even the fin rays count but caudal fin soft rays are not because there's too many, I can't accurately count & some are not visible under the membrane

I just wanna point out some of the differences you drew are to differentiate between species not variants, such as adipose, eye placement and shape etc.

Yes, I realised it after I colorised the sketches & edit it in IG, but MFK thread only have a few minutes editing window. I missed it & it's forever there LOL
