My Brat pack... lol

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Figured I'de do abit of an update now..

since last updated alot has changed on my spiney eel side of the hobby.

My 3 fire eels passed away due to a poor choice in PFS... it cut their gill tissue up and they where all killed within' 48 hours of adding the new sand... It was devistating to me to say the least as I rasied them all from mid-juvies. I syphoned all the sand out as soon as I saw somethign was wrong.. but ended up loseing them, my 10" ornate bichir which I had raised from 3" and my 5"+ Royal pleco I had for approx 2 yrs as well. THe only fish to survive this ordeal where my 2 florida gars.

To add insult to injury I needed my 40B for an upgrade for our aba aba knife juvi. and we could not afford to buy another laregr sized tank, so made the choice to sell the Tire Track the week before the incident with the Fire eels took place.

Now we are down to 2 Spiney eels. The 2 M. Dayii.. which BTW I am making a seriouse run as disproveing they only get 18"....atm my larger of the 2 is already 12" and less then 1 yr old...I'm seeing similar dimorphic differences with them, keeping my fingers crossed they may be a male/female pair.

In the future I plan on getting more Fire eels But after the pain of loseing my 3. and being pregnant myself. I'm going to put them on hold atm.

A pic of the smaller of the 2 about 10" now.

My jaw did hang open for a short time reading this last paragraph. That's total BS man, that something as small and stupid as that took them out.
I was reading in awe that those noodles all lived together at that size, as they get mean when they get in the parenting mood.
I really hope you can assemble another impressive collection someday.
Good Luck.

both the M dayii are still doing great but the larger is starting to beat up on the smaller.. which I think is because they are to large for their current residence.. should be a big day here as this wednesday we will be moveing them in with the gar in the 75. I'm sure the bigger one will be fine but hold some reservation if the smaller one may be abit to small ( gar will eat smaller spiney eels if they think they can) I hope to get some exact measurements of them both when we move them. they are deffinately more and more like the Tire Tracks in nature and personalities, But seem abit more tolerant of companionship.

almost impossible to get exact measurements on these guys but they are growing fairly fast. Hopefully they will hit 18" by winter.
