Yeah. I called and Something Fishy said they had Alligator gar and peacock bass.
So I made the 45 minute trip to check it out. What they actually had were Florida gar and some type of African cichlid.

eddies just got in some gars and some sweet water cows. Of all the lfs i trust eddies over all since my family has been going there since the late 70's.

A certain store in Schenectady recently was trying to sell silvers as blacks for like $60. Apparently enough people complained and they cut the price in half and finally took the black part off of the tank label.
Have you ever been to Davey Jones Locker on Madison Ave? It's the only LFS that I will trust with no questions asked. Never had a problem with them, although they rarely get oddball or big fish in, and their prices are a bit higher.
yup. I get most my fish from daveys, although I have a friend at eddies and they do get some pretty nice fish in...

I got mine from there from a egg sack. I still have him with no sack and he is 110% a silver. I also have a 25" silver and a 14" jardini so I know a thing or two about them.

VERY common mistake. I have 3 florida gars from 14" to 18" and everyone calls them gator gars...local fish stores and people. Not many people actually know the difference and its rather irritating.
I do go to eddies, but I am extremely cautious. I was actually there about 5 hours ago to see, again, what they assured me were alligator gar. It didn't take an expert to see they were floridas as well. They did get a cool giraffe cat that i was contemplating getting, and some really cool sturgeon. I was going to get the sturgeon, but they had no info at all on them, and its I'm not buying a fish that the store knows nothing about, not even a specific species.
well since its a silver it will be my third silver. I had a jardini about a year ago but he got too aggressive. I gotta sell three of my big cichlids to make room for the aro when he outgrows his lil 10 gallon
