My CA cichlid setup

Or you could end up like myself and have 8 tanks in your living room, 6 with fish too aggressive to be with another. I even had to move my TV out because I don't have anything under a 55...

Please research these animals before you buy them. Of the 15 fish you had in that tank, only about 4 of those will not get too big for it - and you just got rid of 3 of them. As others have said, you're going to have a bloodbath on your hands and will likely need at least 3-300 gallon tanks within a year or so.

I feel like you'll be looking at a blood bath soon. A lot of what I'm going to recommend is from research and not from personal experience so take it as you will. Dovii and umbee are both probably too big to keep with the others once full grown. Heard salvini are nuts some times and can kill larger fish. RTM, RD, FH and festea might be a little too mean for the rest of the fish but in a 300 gallon could work together. Others on the list not yet mentioned could also work out together ok but the oscars are going to take up a lot of space.
+100

If I were you I would get a 300 gallon and keep either a single Dovii in it or a mating pair of Umbee.
I would also keep that 72 gallon and put either a single Flowerhorn or a single Midas or Red Devil in it. I personally really enjoy keeping a single large wet pet in its own tank, it's a lot of fun!

Good luck!

get some gold fish, they do great together. or Liston to advice, do some research and see what you can and not have in your tank. :)

ok so after a long talk with the wife :( shes making give up alot of these fish. I can only keep the 72 gallon till i move so my question is what fish or what pairs of these fish can i keep in the 72 gallon. I must say i love the red terror and the flower horn i have a lfs that gives store credit for fish trade in (can use for future tank).

Glad to hear you're going to do the right think man. The rainbow cichlid, electric blue jack dempsey, regular jack dempsey, salvini, green terror (looks like a female) and blood parrot are all fish that won't outgrow that tank. I would not advise keeping them all together however. And unfortunately, both a red terror and a flowerhorn, even kept singly, will grow a bit too big in my opinion. There are many, many other fish, both South American and Central
American, that would also fit wonderfully in there.

I have a 250, with 2 doviis (9 and 12 inches) , 2 red devils, (4-5 inches) 2 barred midas (6-7.55 inches), 1 vieja... it was cool when they were smaller, but once the dovii hit 12 inches, it was the end of the community tank. I had to remove the fish one by one as the dovii and the barred midas was terrorizing them, only the barred midas pair could put up a decent defense against the dovii when there were other fishes, but now the once mighty barred midas pair is hiding in the corner... time to move them ...
