My Cage Builds

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the boas last shed was almost 7 foot by the way if that helps with size indication.Tank makes him look small lol.

Hey don't they have trees with branches where you live? ;)

You should throw a few in those cages (the branches, not the trees).

Ive got a large drift wood multi branch thing that I need to sanitize somehow that I was thinking of trying to fit into the boas. With large snakes it makes it a real pain in the ass to take them in and out if they can curl around every dang thing in the tank so I havnt made up my mind yet.The skink will only climb something if I put it right under the lamp and I dont want him to reach the lamp.Otherwise he has like a built in velcro to ground mechanism that I swear just sucks him down lol.All my trees are fruit trees so Im afraid of the toxins.THe other reason is the wood is treated, like the climbing boards I tacked up inside the boas cage so the humididty and god forbid mites or anything cant utilize it well,I just want to keep it as healthy as I can and kind of worry about random branchs, I know it summer you can wash and dry them in the hot sun but its raining now. What do you think?

That came out great. Why were you intially looking at buying a pvc cage when that is better than any cage you could have bought ?

Esp with the added climbing area .

You can basically use most tree species except for pines and cedars. Also avoid branches from trees that have strong aromatic scents. To treat them you can bake them in an oven or clean them with a diluted bleach solution.

What I like to do with branches is get a garbage can with a bleach water solution. I did that for the big log in my monitor cage like that because it would not fit in the oven. The other benefit of using branches is when the get all messed up you just throw them away.

Nice cages but they look VERY heavy with all of those 2*4's in there.
