my carpinte (i think!)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok hes in my other tank. Water change was about 30-40% Most of the blisters appear to have burst in the capture process. Should i treat the clown loach tank with something as a precautionary measure? I have noticed some flashing from the other tank mates. The blue acara occasionally shakes his head as if he is experiencing gill irritaion. I have a uv steriliser that needs a new lamp, would this be a sound investment? I am very poor after xmas!
just dropped my water change pump and broke it now im super angry! oh and i just googled gram positive.
Thankyou all again!

I would treat the main tank also. After treatment is complete get a new bulb for the UV.

If you can get Tetracycline use that.

"Tablets/powder should be dropped into the tank (not the filter). The tablets/powder dissolve and circulate through the water. Use of a hospital tank is recommended. Use one tablet/powder packet per 10 gallons of water and repeat every 24 hours for 5 days. After treatment Maracyn can be removed by water changes or fresh activated carbon." in a 180g tank thats gonna cost a hell of alot!
Is maracide concentrate a viable alternative?

I have no experiance with maracide concentrate sorry, maybe one of the other members has used it and could jump in here. As you mentioned you could call a vet and explain your situation and see what he says.

You better increase aeration in your tanks though as the respiration is very critical. I wonder now if the blisters were a result of some parasites silently damaging your fish. Can we try praziquantel first for possible flukes? I really think we need to hit the possible parasites first before we go over the secondary infections. In this case, the blisters appear to be secondary.
