I tied a piece of apple to a rock for my newly aquired Pleco and dropped it in the tank. Within moments my Carpinte came to check it and he ate the whole lot.

Just thought i'd share, thought it was preety cool.:D

That's interesting.

That's amazing! Is there any reason why I couldn't do that for an oscar? I mean, if she doesn't like it she'll just blank it, right?

My understanding is that Oscar's are at best primarily, carnivorous cichlid's. I doubt they would accept such food's. But you're correct, there's no harm in trying some vegetable matter in their diet. I offer my cichlid's frozen peas and the odd bit of zuchini on the odd occasion, but had never thought of friut's. I was reading the sticky thread about diet in the Pleco forum, which is where i got the idea of offering my Pleco some fruit. As someone stated in this thread, they regularly eat fruit which has fallen from over hanging branches, i suppose omnivorous cichlid's would also. Learn something new everyday.

I did read about honeydew melon. Is the water melon very messy? Go have a read through that thread i spoke of, Jojo. It's a good insight into their diet.
