After removing all the other fish in the tank my carpintis pair spawned last night and was wondering a couple of things.
I generally do a 20% water change every 3 days and am supposed to do a water change today, should I still do the water change or put it off? Also should I cover the filter inlets or should they be fine?
Thanks Cam

People say to add methylene blue but I cant manage to find any around here, if I keep the tank well airated should the eggs be fine?

I think if you keep temp.the same, with good airation, you will be ok without meth.blue.sponge has been aged in a tank? If not I would tank some filter material/sponge/rings from your main tank to add to the fry tank

Will I need to remove the fry from the parents and if so at what point? I don't really have a tank to put them in yet but can arrange one. I have 2 filters running on both tanks of which I can afford to remove one to put on a new fry tank.

My carpintus are great parents, and I leave the fry with them until they spawn again, usually at least a month.
It will take a day or 2 for the eggs to hatch (depending on temp), and then they will be wrigglers a few days living off their yolk sac. When free swimming I immediately start to feed newly hatched brine shrimp. And add pureed pellets mixed in tank water with a turkey baster.

They'll love microworms but with less hassle, frozen baby brine shrimp is the way to go. Feed only when they've become free swimmers.

Nice looking pair.

They do not eat when in the wriggler stage, as stated above, only start feeding when they become free swimming.
I like to shoot food into the school of free swimmers with a pipette of turkey baster

My pair eat all the eggs on their 1st spawn and eat the fry on their 2nd batch. They are getting ready to drop their 3rd batch and I'll be separating a portion of them as soon as they are free swimming.

Good Luck they are wonderful to watch while they are parenting.
