Yes. When they stress for any reason, they essentially quit feeding. Takes weeks or months for them to come around after that....They can be moody with decor changes also.
hows the growth rate? I got 2 small 3 inchers recently. One has grown already I got it a week prior to the 2nd one. Hope to try and get it to 10 inches Didn't see to much info on them. Seems people sour on the hiding and somewhat slow growth, but man they look good.
As @DBjunkie has just put it eloquently - when they are stress-free, they eat well and reach a foot in 1 year, 1.5' in 2 years. Perhaps 2' in 3-4 years. When they are stressed, like my quintet was, for instance, they'd be still at 12" after 2 years, stuck at 12" for a year. As it turned out, mine have been bugged in 4500 gal by some tankmates, first two Distichodus lussoso (one of the nastiest fish not to be comm'ed), then someone else, not sure who. They have been separated in 240 gal for half a year now and only now are starting to turn around and feeding better. Before, their tummies would be flat and empty but they'd pay no attention to their food.
If you didn't see much info on them, you should keep looking, reading, and researching. This fish is commonly kept and written about.
