I just got a RedTail Tiger Shovelnose Hybrid. Very interesting fish but grow way too fast. I got him a couple of days ago for my 150gal and he already looks bigger. They are said to grow an inch a month at least! I'm hoping he does ok with my rope eels. They seem to love him. Slithering all over him, even resting their heads on his mouth. He seemed to get irritated because my pacu keep slurpping slime off his tail and ended up snapping at the rope eel. Didn't do any harm and didn't seem hungry but I think it's a matter of time before he makes a meal out of them. Very cool fish but I need to up my tank size within the next year. I am surprised you have those big guys in a 55gal. They look very healthy. Good luck.

the one i sold to him (catman) was growing about 2 inches a month with market shrimp and turkey liver feedings.
