Plus with a higher hood like the stock 1 that came with it you have to keep the lid closed at all times to stop them escaping and there are no air holes apart from that...

You can make a hood that hugs the tank from the top and then make openings in it IMO. I dont have any reference pics, sadly, so cannot share; sorry about that. More air is always better with these labyrinth fish I feel.
