theres a notheren speceis that can survive under the layer of ice it is from colder water than the others i read one came back to life after being frozen.that was on a gov of canada website they sell them in b.c. live for human consuption

So just to add to some of the reply`s In Canada they are LEGAL except in Ontario and B.C I live in is spouse to be banning them although I know a couple people who have them there, I live in NOVA SCOTIA (LEGAL). I picked mine up from the airport with no problems. Gachua like the ones in this post can survive in cooler temps because they are from India in the northren mountains along with Orange spotted Snakeheads and BARCA and a few more species. I own Diplogramma as well tho they require warmer tamps like 80-82F. As the living under Ice they are air breathers so under ice may happen but with places to come up for air while enduring the extreme cold.

While you can from what I gather the Diplogramma may not be imported as they are becoming more rare and numbers are way down. Hopefully not but they may become endangered species if low number keep up. I read that they may not be shipping anymore of these at all. :)

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...enfish-snakehead-import-ban-contemplated.html this is what happened here in bc, the ban will be soon. I read late feb ban on import. I got 2 gachua coming in to my LFS Thursday, possibly going to get him to bring me a few more in to get a pair, then separate the rest :P no more waiting till later to get a snake head for this guy lol BTW beautifull fish you got, but aren't they supposed to be black with red on there fins? or are your pics of them when they are babies?
