My chocolate cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice fish! I have a chocolate that is 9" long now and and its a fantastic pet. Mines a female and the lady who gave her to me has the male mate to her. I'm hoping one of these days she will give him to me also so i can have a breeding pair. lol.

The only problem i have is that i have a Blackbelt Cichlid , and i have heard that the Blackbelt will get very aggo' with other simlier type/ shaped fish .

My Blackbelt already pushes my Oscar about now but not to much that they get into fights just pushes each other about , mostly at feed time .

So i am still not sure if i should get one , dont really have any other tank to put the Chocolate Cichlid in if i have to split them up if the Blackbelt ends up fightinh with it to much .

What do you think , should i get 1 or not ? ( The Blackbelt Cichlid is currently about 9inch and the Choco' is about 5inch ) .

Blackbelts get aggressive, far more so than chocolate cichlids, you will end up with a dead chocolate cichlid eventually.

yep i agree chocolates are soooo laid back where as blackbelt's are as the name suggests

im far from an expert but im leaning towards female, based on head shape.
its a spectacular fish regardless
