I just got a new cichlid from Wally World and I put it in my already established cichlid tank. It is about 4 inches long and is the biggest cichlid in the tank. It started getting beat up by the second smallest fish in the tank (a two-inch ice blue something or other) and by my Metriaclima sp. which is about three and a half inches. Also, the smallest fish (an Aulonocara Jacobfreibergi) now comes out more often. Anyway, to stop the ice blue from attacking this new cichlid I put in my 4 inch yellow lab. A battle royale commenced between the Metriaclima and the lab with no visible injuries and now all fish seem to be getting along. The ice blue seems to have taken favor to the lab and follows it everywhere in the tank. Pictures to be posted soon.
I wish I could have gotten video of the battle. The two were twirling around the tank for about 30 seconds, then started facing each other mouths wide open for at least a minute-still going all over the tank. Finally the lab somehow managed to get a hold of the Metriaclima on the side, shook it a little and that was it. It has now been about 4 hours and will post more tomorrow. Hopefully I still have all my fish.
