I have a 4' tank full of various malawi cichlids and 3 baby snakeheads are currently in there tank untill my heater arrives from china..(damn slow post)

anyways threw some chopped prawn to feed them and all the cichlids went an stole it i have only ever fed my cichlids flake and pellets before so it was quite a shock is it even good for them or will prawn hurt them?

yes, prawn will hurt them. for malawians, you always want to feed a food with a protein content of less thasn 40%(if i remember correctly). prawn is very high in protein content and should never be fed to them. eventually you will need to get those snakeheads out of there because your mbunas[or haps/peacocks] are not compatible, long term especially.

very good for them, they are full of protein

i feed my oscar live cray and crabs, he loves them
its not good for his malawian cichlids. oscars arent mbunas, and prefer more protein.

the heater has arrive today so i will be swapping my snakeheads to there own tank tomorrow

and the cichlids will not be eating prawn again,
thx for leting me know
