OK guys well i got new africans thiss week (3 in total)

1 female OB peacock i got like on monday
1 Male OB peacock i got today
1 Hap siencetific name starts with a Z but i cant think of it as of right now lol

so now heres my list of fish i have now oh and the hap i had already isnt a hap its a kabori i think thats how u spell it the guy at my LFS checked it out and said its a kabori peacock .... so heres my line up

3 OB peacocks 2 female 1 male
1 kabori peacock male
1 hap
1 Mbuna ( not sure of the name but above theres a link to the same guy i have, he is a baby lol)
1 Pleco

what you think for my 60 gallon??

Pics will be up of all my fish within this hour thanks..

i see the "giraffe looking" one is a venustus!
the pics are blurry, but i think i see a blue shine on its head, so im assuming its a male. i have a male venustus that is around 9 inches long. these guys need really big tanks (they are strong swimmers) and he will eventually eat anything he can cram in his mouth (they are ambush predators that eat smaller cichlids). if you cant get him a bigger tank you will have to end up getting rid of him.

my venustus is in a 90 gallon tank by itself because its so aggressive it cant tolerate any tankmates at all.. that being said i really love him. if i were you, i wouldnt buy anymore fish until you can get a bigger tank, and rethink the venustus, since he will be a big hap. hes ok for now probably, but mine was in a 90 gallon with alot of other lake malawi cichlids, and one day he just snapped and started eating my fish! lol.. once yours reaches its sexual maturity you will see a change in his behavior. i also think i see a red empress in there--they also get big, but i have a female and she is a gentle giant. it all depends on the fishs' own temperment.
when can you get a larger tank? if not soon, id get rid of the venustus--but thats just my opinion and there are more experienced fishkeepers than me here lol..

btw if you look at my avatar, that is a 90 gallon tank with my male venustus by himself--hes a big boy lol

Well for my tank i wont be getting a bigger one tell some time next year which will either be a 120 or 160 at largest... and for the red empress is that the one in my fisrt pic? i was told he was a kabori peacock ..?

second for the "giraffe looking one" hes really good looking and right now he gets along with everyone pretty good and will he do fine in a 160 or 120 with other malawis? and so will the "red empress" ??? and will he doo good if i kept him fed good so he wont be hungry to eat the others?? and the only reason why hes ok is cuase he is a juvie? and i was also like the other hap the blue johani will they bee good with the peacocks? i thought haps and peacocks and yellow labs do well together?...

the venustus will be ok while he is a juvenile. i had mine in a 180 gallon tank with other mbuna like yellow labs, red zebras, etc.. and he was perfectly fine until one day. he just turned around and snapped a fish that was right by him and chewed it up and spit it out lol.. so i took him out, and now he is alone because he wants to attack anything and everything. but thats just my venustus, yours may turn out to be more docile lol.. just watch him. and if he starts to eat your other fish you need to take him out, because he will do it nonstop. mine couldnt live with other malawi's that he could cram in his mouth, and was overly aggressive with anything his size including an 8 inch pleco.
ive never heard of a kabori peacock, (i dont keep peacocks at all.. sorry) but at a glance it looked like a red empress coloring up (blue and red). you would have to get a really clear pic of that little guy for anyone to tell what he is.. you may be right lol.

Now i need to go get a better camera for the girlfried lol... anywyas i hope he will be ok hes a beautiful fish and also if that comes to it by next year i was gonna keep my 60 gallon setup for a hospital tank and or for a holding female but really i dont want to take fish out of the comunity if they breed just let nature takes its course and second i have another question for you

last night i notice my male ob peacock ( you can see him good in the 3rd pic) is just mooping around and not eating and going in to cracks in the work and kinda chillin and when he was agains the glass i notice one or 2 egg spots but males get them 2 from the females soemthing like that i read on hear he dont seem sick just sad ???

egg spots are not a good way of sexing africans-it doesnt determine the sex of the fish atall. the only great way would be to vent them. dont feel bad about the camera, mine is just as bad lol.. im saving up moolah to get a slr nikon so i can show you all what my fish look like, instead of looking like streaks of color Haha. just watch your OB, he may just be sulking or relaxing-but he could be getting picked (if you notice his tail and fins are getting bit and shreaded or his gills on his sides are "ruffled" thats a good sign of him being picked on).
youre doing good-its alot to learn when it comes to compatibility, and what doesnt work for others may for some reason work for some (depending on the aggression level of the individual fish)

fins are fine he swims more now just last night he was like that and this morning and the other obs will go next to him and kinda seems like they talk to him lol i dont know thanks and i got the haps cause i read that haps and peacosk do really well together so i got the hap that was in a mixed african tank ..

thanks for your help..

not all haps can go with peacocks... look at overall size and diet when planning... the peacock name you were told is not a real name so ignore it... nimbo which venutus is a member of do not play as well with others... well it plays dinner party really really well...

If the OB faces has a blue hue to it, most likely male...
