My claim to fame

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If this is done in a controlled manner and over time like you have done then I see no danger, the ray will only sting if it feels threatened, this practice should not be done by every ray keeper, it takes a steady hand and more than anything else confidence, if your not sure then don't try it!.....don't see a problem, nice interaction Venom.

hopefully i am not getting called a troll, I just said regular hand feeding, rays taking food from the tip of your fingers is not bad, is not bad. But what venom stinger did is awesome

no 1 is calling you a troll at all.... and thank you very much for your compliments

Looks fun, if a little dangerous. Thanks for sharing.

Do u still do that now wit your rays, or was it out of curiosity u did it? Who else does this ?

Have you got pics of the 1st and 2nd online pics of handfeeding rays?

it was a lot of fun, thank you.
Not yet i dont..but its one of the main reasons i got a 125g. its the perfect height ..i can easily put my hand on the bottom without getting my shoulder wet or being submerged. I am waiting on the pearl to calm down a little more to try it. i dont spend as much time with her as i do my motoro.
I did it because when i got my first ray, a hystrix, there wasnt much info the LFS owner could tell me.. so i dove into the internet for answers but most was in german or dutch.
i saw on a greman or dutch sire a guy holding a motoro half way in his hand..
coolest thing ever...had to do it....so i trained them..all you have to do is get them to associate your hand with food...
then your only problem is them not leaving your hand alone....
i really have never seen anyone have a picture like this, myself, maybe someone else has.
my last avitar picture was the second..i give credit of the first to that site i saw it on..
do i know for a fact that i have the 2 and 3...hell no..but believe me..i searched.

its a strange feeling..like getting bit by wet sandpaper.

I often used to tongs to feed young ray to make sure they got food, thats about as far as i get with rays and hand feeding.

I have a couple of times held prawns at the surface and my datnoid tiger fish will and has taken a lunge with their mouths and Snatched the prawn from my fingers.
Water gets splashed about a bit. I only did this to tempt a blind tiger to eat food.
