I made this cold water tank a while ago, i like tropical fish as well (have a tropical tank too) but i find the local underwater world very interesting too
so here's my tank, it contains one perch and three sunfish. i know that sunfish aren't really native here, but since they've been imported here i catch them now and then in the wild
i know that this tank is not big enough for an adult perch, but as soon as it outgrows the tank, i'll move it to our outdoor pond.
the sunfish love the camera, but the perch always hides into his own "dungeon" as soon as he sees it
(cellphone camera)
total tank pic, everything is native, the rocks, plants etc:
Mean looking sunfish
The perch won't pose for a pic if he doesn't get a worm...
enjoying the meal:
i generally feed the worms (live), blood worms (frozen), and live fish (guppy's for the perch, guppy offspring for the sunfish)
The perch has been in the tank for quite a while, the sunfish got moved in very recently, but surprisingly they get along very well. (altough when i feed the big perch always snaps it first
