Thanks for the compliments. We will have to see how long I can keep those Doviis in there.
I honestly hate that piece of wood - floater. I had to use these really long screws to keep about 6 pieces of slate somewhat hidden behind it, keeping it down. It is just there to hide my overflow. The big rock is what makes my tank stand out. It doesn't photograph well, but it is over 100lbs of moonrock, and has really nice half-caves in it that the fish go into. Took me and 2 buddies to carefully lower it between the braces of the tank.
Not sure what the dimensions are (can't find my tape measurer for the last month) but when I bought the tank, it was a 240 'something'. I think it is like half an inch wider or half an inch taller than a regular 230.
I am going to try the garbage bag approach for a background. I heard it somewhere before, and I appreciate you reminding me. I have lots of hard water stains behind the tank from them splashing, and I am not quite sure how to get at it and do a quick clean before I attach it. The tank stands up pretty high (6'0 or so), and is very close to the wall. Not much room on the side either
We will have to see how I can properly clean it before adding the background.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. If anyone is in town, I may be getting rid of the pair of Doviis if they become too terrible and I can't add the female to the 90 gallon, or doing so won't slow the male down. Luckily everyone else in that tank is able to hold their own - for now. I just hope that the big male midas doesn't one day grab his mouth and snap his jaws (really worried about it actually) but they don't make contact unless either one is retreating after going a bit too far into the territory - at which case they get a bit of nip as they are swimming away.
