I havn't had them long, but I guess I'm just being paranoid, I usually don't breed my fish but I love it when I do. My convict male just isn't in the mood for love. All he does is chase the other 2 females around all day long. Did I get a bad male or something? I heard they should pair up pretty fast. How long does it usually take them to pair up?

What size are they? They breed at a fairly small size, but not extremely small.

I had a female breed, and then her offspring bred at less than an inch. I thought that was extemely small.

I took the bigger female out, now he lets the smaller one close and follows her time to time. Pushes her around gently but that's all. Is this a sign of a beggining pair?

That's what I thought, he really hated her/him. I also heard males can sometimes still have orange scales on their belly, but not very much.
The bigger "female" didn't have much orange either. This smaller one has a lot, and is much darker in colour.

I would say make sure that you indeed have what you think you do. And then more importantly be patient. If you do have a male and female in the same tank it WILL happen.

My convicts mated within the first 2 months I got them. Just got to be patient I guess.
