Good job with them. I'm really surprised your nanoluteus are doing so well in a community setting. I never had any luck keeping them with other cichlids.

I always mix American with Africans as long as they demand similar water requirements. Mixing actually reduces aggression because fish show greater aggression towards closely related than distantly related species. I have no problem mixing 10+ inch Vieja with 1 inch Tangs because fish tend to compete on the same weight class and and there are plenty of rock caves for the small guys to hide.Do you mix African cichlids with American cichlids? Thought I saw a peacock cichlid
