My Curu, Aimara and Armatus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sweet Comm. I love Curu's and always wanted to try keeping an Aimara getting them to get along in a comm. would make it all the sweeter. The Curu looks nice and thick but so much paler then I'm used to seeing them.

By the way good move, moving the Armatus. I had a Curu with two Army's all the same size but The Curu accidentally amputated one of my Army's dorsal fin. It was a feeding accident both went for the same piece of shrimp the Curu tried intercepting it just above the Army and got the shrimp and Army's dorsal fin at the same time. Luckily Armatus have hella sick healing cause he regrew the dorsal hard ray and all.

The culprit and what I'm used to as far as Curu's coloration.

Seems like your aimara don't mind others around him/her? Mine gets insecure about herself and won't let nothing get close to her. She stay at her own spot and hits anything get close to her.

What's so interesting about this Comm. is that my Curu was there first and was the aggressor. He would stalk the Aimara around the tank the first week and slam him up against the glass, even though he is about 2 1/2 inches smaller.

As for the color of my Curu, it changes on a daily basis and depends if I keep the moon light on during the day or whether I turn on the regular light. I've seen him as dark as the Aimara and as light as he is in the pic. (By the way that's a pretty awesome looking Curu you have).

The Armatus I removed because of the Aimara. The one good thing I can say about my Curu is that since I had him at 4" he has never eaten anything live and I've kept him with many other fish without a problem. Unfortunately the Aimara didn't have the same disposition, lol. He chased the Armatus after being in the tank for about week and I got nervous and removed him, lol.

The only thing I'm sure that my Aimara doesn't like is me, lol. It's more bold and confident now than when I first got it from Wes. By keeping them for a little while, you can definitely feel out there personality, but I'm learning that everything is trial and error with these magnificent fish. Sometimes he's tolerant of the Curu and sometimes he would rather be on the opposite side of the tank by himself.

Ya you lucky, mine won't tolerate anything near her but still manageable. My artc is the worst, nothing in her tank period.

Looking great, Ill be looking forward to your updates

I don't even trust my 11" mala with my 6" armatus. Gonna wait a bit before adding the armatus to my comm.
Supervee, Definitely wait, because your Mala will slow down here in growth in a little bit and your Army will catch up fast. That's why I removed mine, lol
