My Dalmation Molly

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If she is dropping babies in sacs they could be spontaneously aborted babies. Livebearers will sometimes do this because of stress. Or if she was bred to another fish closely related to her the babies may be too inbred to survive, and may have died before they came to term. Baby mollies are normally carried in sacs internally, but emerge from them before they leave the mom. Sometimes it takes the babies a few minutes to get oriented and learn to swim. If they don't do anything in 24 hours, they are probably dead or not babies.

If the sacs do not contain babies, they may be intestinal parasites. See if you can examine the contents of one of the sacs.

Hope that helps. And I think mollies are cool, even though they aren't huge.

Im sorry, im totally not taking any shots at you and as I re-read the post it kinda sounds a little harsher than i meant it. I welcome you and hope you in fact learn a lot posting here. :footinmou

i agree with ewurm

i started out small and moved on to great bigger things.
i think exclusivity to members with larger fish should be discouraged as we all started out as novices to the aquarium world and i think its the duty of experienced aquarists to encourage new members because we are all potential monster fish keepers we are just starting out with the basics.
