I don't think they are ocells. What does everyone else think.
They don't look like any kelberi's I have seen. Their markings/coloration tells me ocell.

Ya, looks like I am pretty much screwed on this deal. Maybe I will feed him to my Ocells! It cost me a bundle for fish that aren't even what I expected. Live and learn I guess!

Looks bad, although seeing deformatiies like these makes me question the scource of these fish, wildfish dont usually show such signs more often seen with tankbred or lake bred fish

possibly he was damaged while still young?

Really? Jeff is known to have mislabeled cichla a few times in the past. How do these guys NOT look ocell to you? Kelberi don't have even a SLIGHT red in their eyes.

Thats not true, Cichla are not going to show there true color/pattern all at the same pace. Some mature faster then others, some slower. People said that about his second batch too and I got one at 5". Now he is about 6.5" and looks amazing. Kelberi don't get their true colors till about 10" so mine still got a way to go also. Like I said cichla all mature at different pace. And ANY cichla can get red in there eyes caused by aggression.

Just give it time and Im sure that they will develope into what you expect :)

are you sure all kelberi dont have any red in their eyes at any stage of their life?;)
even some monos have red in their eyes.
jeff is known to have mislabeled cichla, but just because they dont look like kelberi to you doesnt mean they are not.
they look very much like most other kelberi from the same batch.

There is a slight chance that the fish are not kelberi then...
