My datnoid is sick. Hope your help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I put it today morning to his old tank. It was good as before and began to eat after two days again. He didn't eat at the separated new apartment. He was very good till the evening, and again it began to put his head down and swim around the tank. So I separated it again. Hoping to get rid of malawis quickly. If got a chance will buy another when available at next time in lfs.

It's the not the Malawi's. It's the other Dat

Thing is I saw some nip offs of the back tail of sick fish. That's what normally malawis do no, and there's bunch of them. I've seen how datnoids fight in my tank. It happens when they run into face to face and only in a 2 seconds' chase this one hides at somewhere which cannot be found by the chaser. But there're 7 malawi babies plus 2 demasoni. So it can't hide from them I guess. When it gets weaker from the nip offs then the chasing datnoid gets a chance to knock the sick one. It's only when this guy was sick, the other got chances to keep knocking without giving a much chance to hide. So I think it's malawis who pave the way to sick one to get badly knocked by other. Prob might be solved if malawi are out of scene. And other cichlids are chased away by both datnoids if they don't like them at near of them.

Today morning other datnoid in the main tank began to show the same head problem. Separated one is doing good now. So I put him back with his old sick mate in the separated tank. They seem to be friendly enough. Hope they will grow up there for sometime till I get rid of some fish, specially malawi from their old tank to make it comfortable to them.
