My dehezi died today..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It seems like many other members have experienced this same fate in their polys, maybe this should be added to a sticky, Not this thread inparticular, but that you need to be careful with little polys or polys in general, because sometimes they bite off way more than they can chew for there one good!!! AND it can be FATAL!

I'm sticking with bloodworms and beef heart on little polys, and very little pellets, and few pellets at that so they don't get to many lodged in the airway and choke!
This is a lesson learned!

Sorry for your loss:( I know how you feel...I had a Long-Finned Senegal that I fed a nightcrawler. It was doing a death roll so I assumed that it would've tore the worm apart, but 30 minutes later, I found it dead with about a quarter inch of the worm sticking out of it's mouth and it's body stiff, probably from the whole worm.:(

You should use the regular carnivore pellets for the little guys and leave the massivores for the bigger ones. I have been feeding my 6" Delhezi carnivore pellets since 2.5" and with no problem. Just a word of advice. I don't know where I would be without my favorite fish. Sorry about your delhezi

Had a scare today with mine, hadn't read this thread before and figured they'd just tear up foods that were too big. Threw a piece of tilapia in there and my delhezi was choking for a while, going nuts trying to get air at the surface, etc. It got it down eventually though.
I'll cut up the tilapia into smaller bits in the future.

Edit: sorry to resurrect an 8mo old thread, I figured something on the first page of a search would be newer.

Sorry for your loss
