Something was going on with it... sounds like it may of had parasites or some sort of bacterial infection, or disease.

It's not normal for a fish to sit there and let you nudge it.

Try again, and this time look for a plumper juvie.

Sorry for your loss that sucks. I can see where everyone was coming from though, it is not that uncommon for poly's to resist feeding for their first few days.....
