My discus community!

Yeh, I think another filter may be needed. What would everyone suggest?

Looks great. For discus and sand my suggestion would be to make to separate 'piles' of wood in the corners and let them grow dense. This will also encourage your fish to be the centerpiece of the tanks

Kinda like these, but with more open space:

If you can build a tank like Takashi Amano then i give you mad props cause those things are awesome. It would be pretty rad to have some discus in one of those. Juvies really wont do well in a tank like that. Bare tanks for them is better so they have more room and dont stunt there growth.

Yeh it is pretty neat looking. You guys think my discus have enough room?

Really nice!
I love the sparse, but natural decor.

the tank looks fine. discus do not need a lot of open space. I have 8 wilds all over 5" and still growing. not many people have as much wood as I do. my fish have no problems. discus are not great swimmers and spend much of the time just hovering. you do need to get more before the aggression starts. six would be great. for those young fish you should be feeding them at least 6 times per day. I would do no less than a 50% wc every other day.

Ok. I will try to keep up on the water changes. 50% every other day. Right now I am trying to feed 2-3 frozen pellet cubes per day + flake food for all of the fish in the tank. This is a mix of frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp and frozen beef heart.

I am going to try to get some live black worms soon.

Should I be feeding more than I am?

Is my fitration good enough?

I think I may also get a power head to set up to help with keeping waste pushing up from sand.

I don't believe in powerheads for discus. these fish do not like current. I run an ehiem 2178 and a rena xp3. I have spray bars on each side for surface aggitation. I want the waste to settle on the sand. it's easier to vacuum. any area that the powerhead pushes water will probably not be used by discus. it's hard to say how much to feed. besides my 8 discus, I also have 4 festivums and 25 lemon tetras that also need to be fed. my discus eat the bloodworms, brine shrimp, and fd blackworm pretty fast, but flake and granules they let it sit on the bottom, then blow on it to eat. it may take an hour for them to eat all the flake. if you have any food left after an hour then your probably using too much.

I have almost no food left over when I feed. I guess 50% water change every other day should be fine. In 24hr there seems to be a decent amount of waste on the sand is all.
